Design and Drafting

The ZAP engineering team consists of Process, Mechanical, Instrument and Controls, Electrical, and Civil/Structural disciplines. All disciplines have licensed professional engineers who maintain licenses in over 15 states. The process engineers at ZAP ensure that all projects have a fundamentally sound process design creating a strong foundation for a successful project. ZAP mechanical engineers are key in ensuring the robustness of the design through equipment specification, pipe routing, pipe stress evaluation, and hydraulic modeling. ZAP instrument and controls engineers have experience with multiple platforms of distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controller (PLC), and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA). ZAP electrical engineers have the expertise to design industrial power systems up to 35 kV and all types of motor controls including full voltage starters, soft starters, and variable speed drives up to 4,160 V. ZAP civil/structural engineers utilize their experience in construction to provide efficient, buildable designs.
The Design department focuses on utilizing the latest technology to increase efficiency and accuracy in our design efforts. Using custom CAD software, P&IDs are intelligent giving ZAP the ability to accurately produce deliverables from the P&IDs. ZAP utilizes the latest versions of AutoCAD and CADworx to produce a comprehensive 3-D model of the project. ZAP has the ability to 3-D scan existing facilities and bring it into the 3-D model increasing the efficiency and accuracy of retrofit projects. In addition to our Oil & Gas expertise in design, ZAP has the expertise to produce custom 3-D modeling outside the parameters of CADworx software.
