Founded by Steve Tzap in 2001, ZAP was built to meet complex needs across industrial markets, applying multidisciplinary engineering grounded in deep technical expertise and delivered with accountability. Steve recognized a gap in the market for engineering firms capable of rigorous, integrated work on complex facilities. From the outset, ZAP prioritized technical depth, proven project delivery, and high safety and quality standards.
As client needs grew more complex, ZAP added procurement, project controls, construction, and field services to what began as a process design and controls-focused organization, becoming a fully integrated EPC and technical services provider. That expansion let ZAP support projects from conceptual engineering and FEED through construction and commissioning, executing full EPC scopes while maintaining stringent engineering standards.
Growth extended beyond service offerings. ZAP expanded geographically across the United States and diversified beyond energy and chemicals, applying its multidisciplinary expertise to power generation, mining and minerals, advanced materials, and manufacturing. ZAP partners with owners, operators, and developers on capital projects, facility expansions, upgrades, and asset optimization across each of these markets.
Today, ZAP is a full-service engineering and EPC partner designing, delivering, and optimizing industrial assets across North America. With licensed professional engineers across the United States and Canada, ZAP executes projects of varying scale and complexity while maintaining a consistent focus on safety and quality.
