Anhydrous Ammonia Terminal Refrigeration Expansion

Construction management for a refrigeration capacity expansion at an operating anhydrous ammonia storage and truck loading terminal in Illinois.

Project Overview

ZAP was engaged by a major agricultural products producer to provide construction management and construction engineering for a refrigeration capacity expansion at an operating anhydrous ammonia storage and truck loading terminal in Illinois. ZAP staffed the site with a construction manager, safety coordinator, trade inspection, material control, and document control, managing the mechanical and electrical subcontractors alongside the owner and a third-party engineer.

Field Organization & Schedule Management

ZAP staffed a dedicated field team overseeing mechanical and electrical subcontractors alongside the owner and a third-party engineer of record, with work resource-loaded and tracked on a weekly earned value schedule. This gave the client a single accountable field organization coordinating multiple trades throughout construction.

Procurement, Inspection & Commissioning Support

ZAP’s scope extended beyond field supervision to bid walks and evaluation, receiving and inventory control, integrity testing, pre-startup safety review, and commissioning support. The project demonstrates ZAP’s capability to manage complex construction on a live, operating facility while maintaining existing loading operations throughout.
